Piazzoni was a master of Tonalism, he is celebrated for his poetic, minimalist landscapes that distill nature into essential forms. He is most famous for his monumental "Land" and "Sea" murals, originally created for the San Francisco Public Library and now permanently housed at the de Young Museum.
