Edith Anne Hamlin (Dixon) (1902-1992) watercolor entitled “Alamos, Sonora”.  In 1937 Hamlin married the much older Maynard Dixon who passed away nine years later.   Alamos, Sonora, Mexico has been a wealthy colonial town but had fallen into ruin in the early 20th Century until the 1940s when Americans and artists helped begin a gradual restoration of the town.  This watercolor was most likely painted during this time (early 1940s) when they were married.   Signed lower left “Edith Hamlin” and “Alamos, Sonora”.  Excellent condition.  UV filtered museum glass.  13.5″h x 9 5/8″w.  Tim Holton custom walnut frame 21.25″h x 18.5″w SOLD
