Harry L. Dixon Radial Hammered Copper Card Tray c1932-1935. Harry Lester Dixon was a self taught artist in San Francisco who was working for GMAC Auto Financing in the 1920s and with the Great Depression lost his job. He likely knew the more famous Harry St John Dixon but just made these pieces in his Lombard Street workshop in his garage to earn a little income. In 1935, he moved to Hayward, CA and stopped making hammered copper pieces. Instead he started making miniature trains, and through this endeavor became friends with Walt Disney. Harry Lester worked on the miniature trains during the first incarnation of Disneyland. Signed. Excellent original patina. 5.5"d.
