Liberty & Co Egyptian Revival "Thebes" Stool c1884-1919. Modeled after an ancient Egyptian stool from the 18th Dynasty (around 1400–1300 BC) discovered during excavations in Thebes and acquired by the British Museum in 1835. Leonard Wyburd, the director of Liberty's Furnishing and Decoration Studio, patented his version of the design in 1884. Unsigned. Excellent original finish.
