Arden Craft Guild Hand-Carved Oak Trestle Table c1900-1906. Unsigned. Excellent original finish. Founded by Will Price in 1900, Arden predates Rose Valley by one year. This table scales down William L. Price’s 1903 Gothic trestle design. Price provided identical templates to his concurrent utopian colonies, Arden (1900) and Rose Valley (1901). Unlike branded Rose Valley pieces, independent Arden guild furniture was traditionally left unsigned. The slab sides feature a central Gothic window motif executed via shallow blind carving directly into the solid plank. The recessed grounds retain clear, visible tool facets and flat chisel marks, exhibiting the intentional 'mark of the tool' central to the anti-industrial ethos of the Arden craft workshops. 24"w x 19.75"d x 29"h
