Mutz Wwe (Altona) - German Jugendstil Mottled #1894 Drip-Glaze Ceramic Vase c1914-1921. Following the death of founder Hermann Mutz in 1913, his widow, Maria Mutz, rebranded the company as Mutz Wwe (Mutz Widow) and hired master potter Ernst Leineweber to serve as the workshop's technical director and head of production. Leineweber was entirely responsible for mastering and executing these highly complex, unpredictable reactive drip glazes. This piece was produced under Leineweber's direct supervision before he left to found his own studio in 1922, making it a stellar example of his technical mastery. Signed.
