Marblehead Pottery Egyptian Revival Perfume Bottle c1920s. Unsigned. Loss to tip of stopper, otherwise perfect condition. Created in response to the worldwide "Egyptomania" following the 1922 discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb, these Marblehead Pottery perfume bottles were produced using a mold fashioned from an original ancient Egyptian vessel. The original artifact was sourced from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) and sent to the pottery's founder, Arthur Baggs, to fulfill a high-demand order for authentic replicas. Architect Arthur Little, a prominent local patron with deep ties to major museums, facilitated this connection to ensure the pottery's Revival works remained historically accurate. 5.25"h x 1.75"d
